Helping people organise and understand their finances in an easy to understand and affordable manner is pretty rewarding.
It’s been estimated that up to 80% of Australians never obtain advice on how to manage their financial affairs. It’s a mission of mine to try and help as many of that 80% as I can. And I have a great team working alongside me to help.
At times the never ending compliance requirements become very tiring. For every hour I spend talking with a client, there are multiple hours spent on the paperwork – and paperwork isn’t my favourite part of the job.
Amongst the mundane tasks, though, my career provides me with lots of treasured moments.
What better feeling than for a young couple to tell me they feel “all grown up” now they have sorted out their superannuation and life insurance, for a pre-retiree to tell me they feel great now they have their retirement plan mapped out, or for a retired client to tell me they feel safe knowing I’m looking after them. It makes it all worthwhile.
And to be trusted enough to sit with a client’s 4 year old and read her “The Bum Book” (by Kate Mayes) before I was allowed to leave their home probably takes the cake!
